a teach yourself concept to be applied to by all parents. a series of a self improvement brand name teach yourself. in this topic how ever i get to learn more on how important an action of reading to my children would benefit them in so much way. reason being is that i want them to enjoy books and reading as a pleasure as much as i am.
so there were some wonderful tips i've got from this book. although they have chapters starting from the very beginning that it is from your kid was a baby 0-12 months, 1-2 years, 2-3 and so on, but i've skipped this step first and went straight ahead to my toddler of 4 years old and among others...
1. reading is not the same as reading aloud.
2. tips to read aloud;
don't read too quickly, be dramatic, be prepared, try different voices,keep the tension going, add sound effects when appropriate, stress some words, lets the child join in, give time to enjoy the picture and stop when heis bored.
3. always have a book with us for times we might have to wait somewhere.
4. generally book shring time allocated at least 30 mins every day.
5. if we turn the tv off after a fave programme be sure to have some alternative activity ready for children to do.
6. children who have been read to from the age of 12 months to five years are likely to have heard in a region of 600 different stories before they get to school.
